Lindsay high school teacher Green Party candidate for MP in HLKB

A high school teacher from Lindsay is the new Green Party candidate for MP in our riding. Bill MacCallum is a teacher at I.E. Weldon Secondary School in Lindsay and a former teacher at Lindsay Collegiate and Vocational Institute.

MacCallum says politics has always been a passion and feels now he has the time to devote to it. He says in 1999 he was the Business and Math Consultant for the Trillium Lakelands District School Board where he visited Haliburton County schools and worked with some of the teachers.

He also says he’s been supporting A Place Called Home for a couple of years where he’s learned that the key to helping a charity is to find out what’s really needed. Between now and election day, MacCallum says he plans to meet as many people in Haliburton County that he can. If he’s elected, he says he will regularly poll residents to see how they feel on issues before he would vote on them in parliament.

MacCallum will be running in this year’s federal election.
