UPDATE: Police cite lack of safety equipment as reason for Moose Lake drowning deaths

The two men that died after drowning in Moose Lake on November 7th have been identified.

Investigators cite the lack of safety equipment as a “significant contributing factor” in the drowning of a 25-year-old from Toronto and a 22-year-old from Richmond Hill.

The third occupant of the boat was able to make it safely to shore.

Police arrived at the scene just before 10:30 AM last week alongside Haliburton County Emergency Services and the Dysart et al Fire Department.

Constable Michelle Scanlan encourages all boaters to ensure they have the proper safety equipment on board before they leave the shore.
