Algonquin Highlands offered partnership in Toronto to Algonquin Greenway project

An international concept is hoping to make its way to Algonquin Highlands this year. Coordinator of the Toronto to Algonquin Greenway, Pamela Marsales told Algonquin Highlands council about the project that would connect the hiking and biking trails from Toronto to Algonquin Park. Marsales told council the idea was inspired by the European Greenway Methodology. According to Marsales they already have about 300 potential partners including the Trans Canada Trail.

Council agreed it was a great opportunity that would fit in to their cultural plan, which they hope to roll out this year. The one thousand dollar request coming from the committee wouldn’t be new money, Marsales explains, but something that can be incorporated into already existing department budgets. Council voted to discuss the opportunity in their budget deliberations this month.
