Spring weather means backcountry camping in the park will not be allowed from April 1st to May 13th.

Park staff say due to changing spring conditions, campers will not be able to book a backcountry site until May 14th. Reasons they list include changes to the ice cover on lakes, accessibility challenges and safety issues. First come, first served sites are also not available.

The restrictions are set to be in place until at least May 13th. However, park staff will consider allowing backcountry reservations to open back up before then if conditions allow.
