NewsLocal health unit reminds residents to check for measles vaccinations SHARE ON: Smith Autumn, contributor, Thursday, Feb. 12th, 2015 With measles reported in parts of Southern Ontario, the Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit says no lab-confirmed cases are being reported in our area. Cases have been confirmed in Toronto, Niagara Region and York Region, so Director of Communicable Disease Control Anne Marie Holt says people should be checking their records to make sure they are vaccinated.Holt says anyone born before 1970 should be immune to the measles, but she says to watch for symptoms like a high fever, red blotchy rashes and red eyes. If you think you have the measles, make sure to call your doctor ahead of time and let them know so special arrangements can be made. For more information from the Health Unit, click here.
