Applications open for Ontario’s 2023 antlerless deer tag draw

Hunters making plans for this fall are being encouraged to sign up as soon as possible for the antlerless deer tag draw.

Ontario Fish and Wildlife says applications to join the draw are open from now until the end of June.

Those looking to apply will need to have a deer hunting license prior to applying as well as specify which wildlife management unit (WMU) is preferred.

An antlerless deer tag allows hunters to harvest a deer with antlers smaller than three inches in the specified WMU, or a deer with larger antlers anywhere in Ontario during open season, except during controlled hunts.

Applications are being accepted online, over the phone, or in person anywhere you can get a hunting license, and at some Service Ontario locations.

Those who were accepted will know if a tag was awarded by Aug. 1.
