Half-load restrictions will soon be in effect throughout all of Haliburton County.
Starting Friday, heavy vehicles are prohibited from using most roads. Five tonnes per axle is the limit for many roads, while some have lower limits indicated on signs.
Reduced loads are in effect for all municipal roads in Minden, Dysart et al, Algonquin Highlands, and Highlands East, alongside County Roads 1 to 20, 39, 48, 507, and 648, with the section of CR 648 from CR 10 to Hwy 118 exempt.
County officials say it’s meant to protect roadways during the spring thaw, and restrictions will likely be lifted by the middle of May.
