HHHS Chief of Staff issues statement on Minden ER closure

Residents will have consistent access to Emergency Medical Services, despite the closure of the Minden ER.

That from HHHS Acting Chief of Staff, Dr. Norm Bottum, who says the organization is confident they’ll be able to support the increased volume at the Haliburton Hospital after June 1.

“Looking ahead, we are confident that the staffing coverage model will serve the increased volume expected at the Haliburton site,” says Bottum. “Our team will continue to deliver the emergency care you depend on, every time you need it.”

Bottum says community safety has been impacted by the risk of last-minute ER closures over the past few years, and the consolidation to one site will make service more consistent.

He encourages people to continue to dial 911 in medical emergencies, assuring that care starts on-route to the hospital.
