Next week is International Basic Income Week and the Haliburton Basic Income Group will be at all three Haliburton County Farmer’s Markets to engage with the public and offer information.
The concept of universal basic income is that all residents would receive a guaranteed income through unconditional transfer payment. This would mean people would not have to prove anything to be deserving of a life above the poverty line.
If you would like to learn more about what basic income is, the group invites people to their table and share your comments and questions:
- Tuesday, Sept. 19th at Haliburton Farmers’ Market
- Friday, Sept. 22nd at Abbey Gardens
- Saturday, Sept. 23rd at Minden Farmers’ Market
