Marilyn Wooder wins Gooderham Community Spirit Award

Long time Glamor Lake Road resident Marilyn Wooder has won the 2023 Gooderham Community Spirit Award for her 20 years of leadership in local volunteer work.

In presenting the award at the Gooderham Community Christmas Dinner on Dec. 2, Highlands East Deputy Mayor Cec Ryall noted that “it was Marilyn who came up with idea for the Gooderham Music Festival. For four years, she contracted the bands and led the fundraising for the event, which attracted a record 700 people this past July.”

The award is handed out each year by the Gooderham Community Action Group, which fittingly wanted this year’s award to go to Marilyn as she is retiring from the group at the end of December.
