UPDATED Feb. 9, 1:00 p.m.: Officials have lifted the hold and secure at Archie Stouffer Elementary School.
Archie Stouffer Elementary School in Minden is in a hold and secure, as police investigate an incident in the area.
Haliburton Highlands OPP Constable Michael Melnychuk says residents can expect an increased police presence around Parkside Street as they investigate a disturbance at a nearby home, which happened around 4:30 a.m. Friday.
Melnychuk adds it’s an isolated incident with no threat to public safety. A spokesperson for the Trillium Lakelands District School Board says the hold and secure was done as a precaution and will be lifted when police clear the area.
Under the hold and secure, school doors are locked, and students cannot go outside or be signed out.
