County awarded for Hike Haliburton festival

Haliburton County has won an award for its Hike Haliburton event.

The bi-annual event, which runs every fall and winter, was named one of the top 100 festivals in the province by Festivals and Events Ontario.

According to county officials, last year’s Hike Haliburton drew 910 participants on foot or snowshoe between the two hikes.

“We are fortunate to have breathtaking scenery and trails in Haliburton County and Hike Haliburton is a chance to explore our backyard and natural surroundings,” said County Warden Liz Danielsen. “I am pleased the County was recognized for executing a well-organized event that draws visitors to our area to enjoy all that we have to offer. I wish to thank the staff and all the volunteers who contribute to making the festivals a success.”

The award was presented at the IMAGINE 2024 Festivals & Events Ontario Conference in Niagara Falls last month.
