Five Counties Children Centre coming back to Minden

Five Counties Children’s Centre (FCCC) is moving back into the former Minden Hospital site.

The not-for-profit had previously operated out of the building before Haliburton Highlands Health Services (HHHS) reclaimed the space during the COVID-19 pandemic. FCCC will soon move into a roughly 700-square-foot space on the second floor, while still offering physiotherapy services at Archie Stouffer Elementary School.

The organization provides services such as speech, occupational, and physical therapies, to those under 19, or 21 if still in school. Officials say last year, FCCC helped almost 250 kids in Haliburton County.

“We are pleased to reach agreement with Haliburton Highlands Health Services (HHHS) on this space that will allow Five Counties to provide care closer to home,” says CEO Scott Pepin. “Re-establishing our presence in Minden will save local families the need to drive to Lindsay or Peterborough to access treatment and therapy services.”

The agency says it will hold a public open house in the spring to celebrate its return to the space.
