Province giving Algonquin Highlands nearly $50,000 for emergency preparedness

The Township of Algonquin Highlands is getting $49,746 from the province to better respond to emergencies.

Provincial officials say the money will be used to buy 7,000 feet of forestry hose and four wildland forestry fire pumps, to improve the municipality’s response to wildland fires.

The money is part of the $5-million Community Emergency Preparedness Grant set aside for small Ontario communities this year.

Officials add $110-million has been earmarked to help emergency preparedness over the next three years.
