Point in Time Centre launches program to support individuals with lived experience in mental health and substance use

Point in Time Centre for Children, Youth and Parents, in partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association and several organizations representing the Haliburton County Connections Committee, announced the launch of a two-year project commencing Jan. 1, entitled Coming Full Circle: Training, Mentorship and Employment Supports for People with Lived Experience in Haliburton County.

This initiative was funded in an amount of $797,000 from the Canada’s Substance Use and Addictions Program.

The project aims to build a network of people with lived and living experience of substance use and mental health challenges who are trained, equipped and supported to become peer support workers.
These workers will have opportunities to build their own professional and leadership capacity to contribute to health and social system improvements across Haliburton County.
The project will include utilizing the advice and expertise of those with living experience to explore and plan models of support.
These supports will be provided in Haliburton, Minden, Carnarvon, and Wilberforce, and project planners will be looking for people with lived and living experience to consult with as well as explore new space opportunities.
