The Township of Minden Hills remains in a State of Emergency, 30 days after a devastating ice storm hit central Ontario.
Mayor Bob Carter says it is due to one reason – water.
In an April 29 social media post, Carter said significant snowfall this winter, combined with a higher than usual amount of rain in April, has overwhelmed the local watershed.
While the Burnt River system has peaked and is receding to normal levels, the Gull River system is full, and lakes above Minden are at or over capacity.
Carters says local officials are still meeting three times a week with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Parks Canada, and will continue to do so until the threat of flooding subsides.
