The SG Nesbitt Memorial Arena is getting a new zamboni.
At a meeting last week, council approved the trade-in of the current unit, and the purchase of a 2025 Olympia Millenium Ice Resurfacer, at a cost of $100,000.
Officials say the Township last purchased a zamboni in 2016, and the life cycle of the unit is eight years or 5,000. In April, staff discovered seized lug nuts and that the wheel to axel connection on the current unit was compromised. A replacement unit was used to finish the end of the season.
The purchase of the new zamboni will be funded through arena equipment reserves.
