Trillium Lakeland District School Board (TLDSB) will be holding an art showcase at Fleming College in Haliburton on May 14 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Jay MacJanet, Superintendent of Learning with TLDSB, says this event was created to help showcase some local talent.
“This year’s theme is Better Together,” says MacJanet. “What we are trying to promote is this is me, this is we, this is us, and it’s to showcase the extreme amount of talent that we have in our district school board in terms of visual arts, voice, dance, music, and spoken word.”
He says this is an opportunity for students to show off what they can do and get recognized for it.
According to MacJanet, the board likes to promote sports, theatre, academic excellence in literacy and numeracy, and also highlight the arts.
“We want to make sure that those that have talent in different areas are recognized as well,” he says. “We feel like when we showcase that through art, it binds us together as a community.”
