It’s another budget day, and today it’s in Algonquin Highlands. Councilors took a look at the first draft yesterday and they’re continuing deliberations in a meeting today. The treasurer’s report is showing a surplus so far, but it also outlines some increases facing the Township. New OPP costing will come in close to 170 thousand dollars, a levy increase is adding up to just over 75 thousand dollars and growth related taxes will be around 45 thousand. Today, councilors will be going through each department’s budget and asking for items to be removed, changed or added. At the end of today, staff will complete those requests and bring another draft back to council.
