Fire burning in Algonquin Park

A new wildland fire is burning in Algonquin Park.

That’s according to officials with the Ministry of Natural Resources, who say the fire is about a quarter of an acre in size.

It’s 250 metres north of Mudville Lake, and a kilometre south of Chewink Lake. Officials say, as of July 7, it was not yet under control.

According to the Ministry, there have been 300 fires across the province so far this year, up from 127 at this time last year.
