Haliburton Highlands OPP is urging residents to take the steps to protect their home and cottage following a few break-ins in the Blue Hawk Lake Road area. A number of cottages were broken into, so police are reminding people to secure all windows and doors including blinds or shutters. They also suggest using motion sensor lights outside, and have a permanent resident regularly check up on the property. Alcohol was the target in these break-ins, so they’re reminding people to remove all food and alcohol.
