New CMHA mental health walk-in clinic opens in Minden

A new mental health walk-in clinic has opened in Minden.

The clinic, operated by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge, is located at 6 McPherson Street.

As of Sept. 18 the clinic will operate one day per week, Thursday’s, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. offering access to mental health supports for individuals aged 16 and older.

CMHA officials say this expansion builds on the success of existing walk-in clinics in Lindsay and Peterborough, which have served over 200 individuals since February.

“We’re excited to bring this service to Minden,” said Calli Lorente, Manager of Integrated Crisis Services at CMHA HKPR. “This clinic offers a low-barrier entry point for people seeking support and reflects out commitment to meeting the mental health needs of the community.”

The clinic is not intended for individuals in crisis. Anyone needed immediate mental health support is urged to call or text 9-8-8, the national suicide crisis helpline.
