UPDATE: Conditions noticeably improving across Township of Minden Hills

The Township of Minden Hills remains in a State of Emergency, and will do so until the water recedes a little more, according to Mayor Bob Carter.
In a statement released on April 24, Carter said once levels go down “we can get a true assessment of the state of our infrastructure and the cost of the cleanup.”
He said water levels are expected to increase over the weekend of April 25,26 due to work being done by Parks Canada.
“There will be a noticeable increase in the water levels on the Gull River this weekend as Parks Canada makes some controlled releases from the upstream lakes,” he said. “Parks Canada will have staff working throughout the weekend to accomplish this.”
Cleanup plans are underway and the Township will be meeting on Monday (April 27) in order to provide further information. Carter asked residents for patience as staff have been busy assessing the situation, and making necessary repairs.
“Volunteers will be needed for portions of the cleanup,” he said. “I know that the community has asked you all for so much help over the past week, but please do whatever you can to put Minden back in business.”
