Wilberforce Food Bank in need of donations

Shelves at the Wilbeforce food bank are looking quite bare.

That’s according to officials with the Central Food Network, who put out a call for help on social media on July 21.

Officials say many local families are struggling with the rising cost of food, and that there food supplies are being used as quickly as they come in.

Currently, the local food bank is in need of canned vegetables, soup, pasta and pasta sauce, and tuna, among other things.

Donations can put in the bins at Wilberforce Foodland or Wilberforce Service Centre, or placed in the donation bin at the Bancroft Foodland from Friday, July 24 to Thursday, July 30.

Donations can also be brought into the Wilberforce Food Bank Wednesday’s and Friday’s from 1 to 3 p.m. and the third Thursday of the month from 12 to 2:30 p.m.

The Cardiff Food Bank will also accept donations during operating hours, Tuesday’s from 1 to 3 p.m. and the first and third Thursday of the month from 6 to 8 p.m.

More details can be found at centralfoodnetwork.org.
