The first fundraiser for the Highlands East Fire Heritage Committee happened over the weekend and they raised 15 hundred dollars.
The committee is raising the money to restore a 1942 Ford pumper – the municipality’s very first fire truck. The committee was made an official committee of council in January with their goal to use the truck in municipal events and parades.
They’re hoping to raise 25 thousand dollars to cover all of the repair costs.
