MPP Scott ‘very pleased’ with provincial action plan to stop sexual violence and harassment

The provincial government has unveiled a new actioned plan called It’s Never Okay: An Action Plan to Stop Violence and Harassment and our local MPP, Laurie Scott says it’s what she’s been looking for.

Scott is the vice-chair of the All-Party Committee which will be working on reports and recommendations to improve the current system. She explains some of the things they’ll be looking at:

Over the next few months, Scott explains they’ll be taking trips across the province to listen to the issues and challenges facing different committees. While Scott has reached out to organizations in and around Haliburton County like the YWCA and A Place Called Home, she explains they won’t only be looking to the experts.

Scott says their goal is to have a final report by the end of the year. The plan also includes 4.1 million dollars to be invested over three years which Scott says the committee will also make recommendations on how the province can spend that money effectively.
