It’s the official start to spring today and while there’s still snow on the ground, the spring thaw in Haliburton County is underway. That’s evident with the closure of all the snowmobile trails, and deer and moose making their way out of the bush. This means motorists should be taking extra caution on the road as wildlife can jump out at any time.
The warmer temperatures over the week have also caused some area lakes and rivers to thaw leaving some open water. OPP are asking that you take extra caution and not venture out on the ice.
