OPP officers in Haliburton County are asking residents to be careful around bodies of water this time of year. With the mild temperatures we’ve had recently, the conditions of the ice is unknown, therefore, it isn’t safe.
Any ice related rescue has the potential to put the lives of many first responders at risk, so they’re asking people to keep vehicles, children and pets away from any areas of open water.
