Students across the Trillium Lakelands District Schoolboard will be at Camp Wanakita today for an Eco Summit. The Woodlands Wildlife Sanctuary will be one of the presenters and they’ll be launching their new education program. Operator Monika Melichar explains why they’re starting this program:

Melichar says kids are stewards for the future so today will be about keeping them educated on some of the factors that will be affecting them later on.

Their presentation is only one part of the day for students where they’ll be taking about forest animals, conservation, species at risk, and more:

This education program was part of the Sanctuary’s mandate when they started, explains Melichar, and this is why:

Melichar says they’re hoping to secure some funding so the education program is something they can offer throughout the year to different audiences.
