Shoreline restoration project looking for demonstration sites

The Coalition of Haliburton County Property Owner’s Association wants to get more of shorelines in Haliburton County to be naturalized. Chair, Paul MacInnes explains that is what makes lakes healthier and prevents blue-green algae that can make a lake unsafe to swim or fish in.

To encourage more people to naturalize their shoreline, the association is asking each municipality in the county to identify one property that can be used as a demonstration site.

This year marks the second year for the project and they’ve already completed assessments on close to 25 hundred lakes.
