Minden Hills councilors made a decision about what community organizations will receive municipal grants, and how much. It’s coming through in a Municipal Grants to Organizations Policy that’s been in the works for a few months. It pre-approves about 30 different events to receive a maximum of 750 dollars.
Each councilor expressed the need for it to be a working document so it can change and be updated as it’s needed. They still want local organizations to know they can come to council with funding requests.
The policy was meant to allow staff to set aside a certain amount of money for the events. This year, for example, they’re putting just under 50 thousand dollars into local events and organizations.
