It looks like the Dorset Community Policing Committee will be no more. They’ve been in operation for almost 25 years, but according to their committee, membership has gone down and things aren’t able to continue on in a productive way.

One of the things the group did was maintain an office space in Dorset for OPP officers from Huntsville and Haliburton County to stop-over. It had refreshments and access to a computer, which the group says is important to keep going to keep a police presence in the community.

Algonquin Highlands councilors are considering taking over the space, just not spending money on the refreshments.

More communication with the committee will happen before they make a final decision.
