A water treatment scam has been reported in Haliburton County. Local OPP report that in this scam, fraudsters are going to senior’s homes and requesting to test their water or offer free sample services.
They also take down a credit card number and charge for a service that wasn’t performed, or for a water heater or reverse osmosis machine. In this case, it could end up in false charges between four and ten thousand dollars.
Haliburton Highlands OPP is asking residents to be on the lookout and call 1-888-310-11-22 to report any frauds.
