Safety on the roads isn’t the only message police are trying to get across to people this weekend.

Twenty people died in boating incidents last year, which OPP report is the lowest it’s been in ten years. However, not wearing a lifejacket is still the reason for the majority of deaths.

Police say that whether you’re on a motorized boat or a paddling craft, PFDs always need to be present.

Lakes and rivers in Haliburton County are still very cold so wearing a lifejacket will mean the difference between life and death.
