Total calls for Minden Hills Fire Department at a seven year low

The Minden Hills Fire Department has released their annual report for 2014 and their total calls are the lowest they’ve been in seven years.

Fire Chief Doug Schell recently told councilors they’re starting to enforce the fines for daytime burning. Reeve Brent Devolin agreed there needs to be more education on burning regulations because it’s costing money that other taxpayers shouldn’t have to subsidize.

Last year the department also saw the most amount of calls for Carbon Monoxide that they’ve seen since 2008, where the majority of them were false alarms.
