Just over 290 thousand dollars will be invested in Haliburton County and surrounding communities this summer. It’s coming through in the Canada Summer Jobs fund, which Local MP Barry Devolin just announced 71 employers in the riding will receive.

The federal government is predicting the program will create about 35 thousand jobs in Canada. Devolin says the program is designed to help students gain the skills and experience they need to be successful.

They’re also expecting it to help employers address the shortage in skills.
