Minden councilors cautious of agreement for liquefied natural gas

Another proposal for Liquefied Natural Gas has come up and this council was a little more wary. Minden Hills councilors spent a lot of yesterday’s council meeting asking questions to Northeast Midstream CEO Joshua Samuel. It’s the same company that proposed the same agreement to Dysart et al council earlier this week.

He’s proposing a 20 year agreement to bring Liquefied Natural Gas to the Village of Minden, so council is treading lightly before making a decision. Reeve Brent Devolin says there is still a lot of due diligence to do before signing the agreement. He says they’ll be doing research on the company and talking to other communities where the agreement is proposed, to make sure they’re all on the same page.

The deadline to sign the agreement is the end of June.
