There’s a Canada Revenue Agency scam that’s been reported in Haliburton County and surrounding areas. Haliburton Highlands OPP is reporting that residents are getting calls from someone claiming to be the CRA.
In the scam, they are telling the resident that there is a warrant out for their arrest and that they need to pay their taxes immediately.
The CRA is reporting the same scam on their website, and are reminding people that they never request personal information like credit cards, bank account or passport numbers.
If you suspect a scam, report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
