The Ontario government just passed another legislation to increase road safety. The Making Ontario’s Roads Safer Act will increase fines for distracted driving from a minimum of 60 dollars, to now a minimum of three hundred dollars.
Other changes will include applying the current sanctions for alcohol-impaired drivers to those who are impaired by drugs. It’s also going to allow a broader range of medical professionals to report medically unfit drivers.
The new fines are set to come into force over the next few months.
