Minden Hills council have decided to keep the boating speed limit on the Gull River where it is. Since last year, staff have been looking into reducing the limit because a lot of complaints were coming in about speeding. Concerns were raised about shorelines and safety for swimmers.
In order to change the limit, it would require a lot of analysis and reports, which council doesn’t think is necessary right now. Community Services Director Mark Coleman says they can accomplish their goal through more enforcement, education and signage.
