Recent land claim negotiations between the province and the Algonquins of Ontario won’t mean a change to Algonquin Park. The negotiation has been going on since the early 1990s, for the Algonquins of Ontario to lay claim on some of their territory in eastern Ontario.

The agreement-in-principal that was just announced states that no lands will be transferred from Algonquin Park. It also suggested that the province continue to manage Ontario parks with the Algonquins having a greater planning role.
