Perry gets applause for NDP stance on environmental protection

The first political event in this year’s election kicked off in Haliburton County last night. Mike Perry is the NDP candidate for MP in Haliburton Kawartha Lakes Brock and he said he’s starting to hear a lot from local residents.

He said one of the things he’s learned from talking with people here is that what’s coming out of Ottawa isn’t matching up with what people here are looking for.

When asked about restoring civility to our government, Perry said he wants to get back to a time when parties would work together for the common good.

The room full of people broke out in applause when he said one of the NDP’s commitments is to make Canada world leaders in environmental protection. The biggest thing he says he’s advocating for in our area, is good jobs through more federal money for proper training facilities.

Canadians head to the polls in October.
