Our local MPP Laurie Scott has been busy over the past few months as the vice-chair of the Select Committee on Sexual Violence and Harassment. Their interim report summarized the testimonies they’ve heard from across the province. Scott says it was a very enlightening experience, but she was shocked.

Scott says there will probably be some legislation changes that come out of the final report as well, like changes to the justice system, but cultural changes will be a big part.

She says we need to have a system where people feel they can come forward, and an education system that teaches people how to act properly.

The committee tabled the interim report earlier this month, but still has a lot of work to do.

Scott says they are still looking for feedback from the public, and people can contact her office for more information. Scott says there will be a wide range of recommendations that will come forward in the final report which will be tabled in December.
