The Municipality of Highlands East is borrowing from their neighbours in Minden Hills for a by-law controlling the use of fireworks.
In a council meeting yesterday, Highlands East councilors heard from their Fire Chief that it would mean fireworks will be allowed on holidays and the weekend before and after. But outside of those days, people will need to buy a permit to set them off. That way, people will get information on where it’s appropriate to set them off, and what time of day they’re allowed.
The by-law will still need to be approved by council.
