No Decision About Old Walker Property Development

Haliburton County is no closer to making a decision about the old Walker property on highway 35. Not sure about funding opportunities that might come their way, they have agreed to wait until the federal government makes an announcement about a new Canada Build grant. If they decide to build a new EMS base and Minden Hills relocates their Fire Hall, it could cost over 4 million dollars, with the cost split between the county and the township.  Both the county and Minden have stated they will borrow the money, if necessary. Ironically, by going into debt, it may help the county’s chances of receiving infrastructure money from the province to repair and widen Head Lake bridge on county road 21.
