An area resident is the victim in a recent phone scam that has police sending out a warning.
The victim got a call from someone claiming to be their bank, saying there was suspicious activity on their credit card. It was a very convincing call, telling the victim to wire money and they would get the amount back, plus what was lost. However, they never got the money.
City of Kawartha Lakes OPP want people to know you should never give personal information over the phone. If someone calls about your bank accounts, hang up and call your bank directly.
