Our local MPP isn’t satisfied with recent changes to the Ontario Retirement Pension Plan. Laurie Scott says that it will take money out of people’s pockets and cause job loss because businesses won’t be able to afford it. She says there are other plans and incentives that would help people save for retirement.
Scott says the plan is just a revenue grab for the province because people won’t be able to access it until 2022.
The province recently announced changes to the ORPP including, people who already have a comparable workplace pension plan won’t have to pay into it. Scott says she’s hoping that’s true, but she’s wary.
