Two hundred and seventeen years ago today Thomas Chandler Haliburton was born. Haliburton County was named after him in recognition of his work as the first chair of the Canadian Land and Emigration Company. To mark the occasion the historical society is donating a birthday cake to the Haliburton Highlands Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours Holiday Social. It takes place tonight at the Pinestone Resort.
