Tourism seems to be a hot topic for the MP candidates in Haliburton Kawartha Lakes Brock.

NDP candidate Mike Perry says he plans to restore and extend the lock hours on the TSW, leverage funding from Destination Canada, and promote the local arts economy.

Liberal David Marquis agrees more funding needs to go into the TSW, and says they plan to reverse the cuts to Parks Canada.

Meanwhile, Green Party candidate Bill MacCallum they’ll create a federal department for tourism, foster ecotourism and increase funds to arts, culture and heritage.

Conservative Jamie Schmale says the funding they’ve given local projects has helped boost tourism, along with the Canadian Signature Experience program. He also says international visitors to the country have increased.
