Kindergarten students in Haliburton County will have access to free Fluoride Varnish this year. The HKPR District Health Unit is offering the program after it’s been a success in daycares for a few years. Anna Rusak is a health promoter and she says fluoride is just one thing that can help prevent tooth decay.
According to the health unit, childhood tooth decay affects up to 40 percent of kindergarten students they screen. Parents can expect to get an information package and a consent form in the first few weeks of school.
